I have a Bachelor’s in Psychology with minors in English and Social Welfare. I’m a 3rd year student in Creative Writing, fiction in the University of New Mexico MFA program. My fiction has appeared in Medical Muse and Centum Press and was a Writer’s Digest “Dear Lucky Agent” award winner (2016) and a finalist for the Charles Johnson Fiction Award (2016). I’m a regular contributor of the Albuquerque Mom’s Blog. You can read more about my writing life at www.faerlmarie.com.
In addition to my writing, I have many years of experience in the biomedical and social behavioral research industry as an IRB analyst for the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center. I’m a Certified IRB Professional (CIP) and ICH-GCP and CITI certified. I received the UNMHSC Office of Research Staff Merit Award in 2016. This expertise and knowledge has given me the opportunity to work on technical and professional projects, an area I’d like to explore more as a writer.
I love working with creative teams to bring a project from conception to completion and am always in awe of the creative talents of the people I’ve had the pleasure to work with. There’s nothing more invigorating and satisfying to me than seeing my words come to life as voice over or published works. I feel like my greatest work in progress will always be my own creative depths–I never know the extent of my capability until I’m faced with a new challenge or asked to dive in with another amazing team whose fresh perspective draws new facets of creativity from me.
Along with my writing work, I am focused on my husband, dog, and growing our first baby (due in July 2017). We live in the mountains east of Albuquerque and delight in the serene nature of our home. Thank you for considering my work.
